Introducing Patricia Loh

     
     

Patricia Loh joined Cliftons in August 2007 as its Senior Business Development Manager for Singapore. Patricia brings with her 8 years experience as General Manager for two very prominent Global Serviced Office providers.

     
     
     
     

The past few months has been extremely challenging, yet totally refreshing, in building up the awareness for Cliftons in Singapore.  I have personally met with more than 300 individuals from over 200 major IT, training, banking and finance companies in Singapore.  Many of these are professionals from HR, learning and development, education and training, technical, sales and marketing and procurement units. 

I was very pleased to learn that many individuals are aware of Cliftons, even though we have not had a presence in Singapore. I found that they had experienced Cliftons Australia, New Zealand or Hong Kong and that their organisations are already Cliftons’ clients outside Singapore!

Singapore is certainly a very unique experience for those of us involved in establishing Cliftons here.  Resources from Australia and Hong Kong Cliftons have pooled together to support the Singapore operation in managing clients’ requests to deliver their training throughout the region. 

Cliftons has gained tremendous positive feedback and confidence from its Singapore clients.  The increasing use of our Regional Booking Services now sees Cliftons Singapore working with companies such as HP, Microsoft, Mercer, Accenture, Netsuite, Sourcefire, Salesforce.com, Nokia, QRM, Guidance Software, Merrill Lynch, Citibank, Ogilvy, Nokia Siemens and many more companies wanting to support the development of Cliftons in Singapore.

We're experiencing both excitement and pressure from our valued clients in hastening us to open Cliftons own training facility in Singapore!

Robert Walters' Global Salary Survey

Robert Walters, one of the world’s leading international recruitment businesses, released its annual Global Salary Survey recently.

The survey provides an in-depth analysis of salaries earned around the world by both permanent and contract workers across a wide range of sectors: accounting, finance, banking, information technology, human resources, legal & compliance, sales & marketing, secretarial & support, engineering & operations, general management and supply chain & procurement.

Some of the key highlights in the survey include:

         

The shortage of local professionals, particularly at the senior level, has resulted in companies looking overseas to recruit foreign talent, particularly from Europe and Australia.

Employers have to offer more attractive packages, move more swiftly and be more flexible and imaginative in order to secure the right candidate.

Salary increases were common across industries and skill sets as employees had more choice and employers found themselves competing with one another for the available talent pool.

Many candidates are receiving counter offers when they resign as a way of enticing them to stay.

Job seekers are increasingly becoming more ambitious and in addition to a salary increase, they are also looking for roles with increased business and strategic planning exposure and opportunities to move into leadership positions.

         

The general lack of candidates and salary pressure of 2007 means that HR departments are focusing their efforts on attraction and retention projects entering 2008.
